Eleanor Glazener passed away Saturday, October 4, 2025 in Amarillo, TX

Eleanor's memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church Amarillo, 1100 S Harrison St, Amarillo, TX 79101 at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 24th, 2025. A short informal burial service will be held at the Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, TX near the gazebo at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 25th, 2025. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Eleanor Glazener was born Eleanor Agnes Forgey on July 17th, 1937. She grew up on Cabin Creek east of Canadian, TX into a pioneer ranching family. She attended Blue Ridge School, a one room country schoolhouse, through the 6th grade and graduated from Canadian High School. Eleanor attended Texas Technological College (now Texas Tech University) for one year where she pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma. She then became a student and subsequently graduated from West Texas State College (now West Texas A&M University). She married H. Eugene Worsham in 1959 and had three sons, Dan, John, and Jeff. After Eugene’s death in 1981, she married Gene Glazener in 1994. She lived on a farm outside of Umbarger, TX for many years, and continued to live there after Gene died in 2001. She moved to Amarillo in 2007 to live closer to her sons.

Eleanor was very active in many Panhandle organizations. She served many years as an elder at St. Luke Presbyterian Church and later was a member of First Presbyterian Church Amarillo. She served as the Treasurer of the Board of the Presbyterian Children’s Home in Amarillo (now Amarillo Children's Home). In addition, she has served on the board of directors of the Canyon Area Library, The Panhandle Plains Historical Museum Auxiliary Board and the WTAMU Women’s Council. Eleanor, along with Gene Glazener, were recognized by the WTAMU Old Main Society for their financial contributions. She served a term on the WTAMU Foundation. She was also a member of the Molly Goodnight Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution since 1973.

Eleanor was a supporter of the arts, particularly Amarillo Little Theatre, Amarillo Symphony, Amarillo Opera, and WTAMU Fine Arts. She served on the Amarillo Opera’s BRAVO! Board. She served the WTAMU College of Fine Arts for many years as a WTAMU Friends of Fine Arts Board member and served two years as president. In 2008, she was elected to the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities Board of Advisors. She received acknowledgements of her work, receiving the WTAMU School of Music Grandiose Award in 2010 and the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Golden Nail Award for an Individual in 2018, having been nominated by the Amarillo Symphony, Amarillo Opera, and West Texas A&M University.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mabel Forgey, her husband H. Eugene Worsham, her husband Gene Glazener, her son John Worsham, and her grandson Alex Worsham.

Eleanor is survived by her family; son Dan Worsham, his wife Laura Jo Worsham of Amarillo, grandchildren Kimberly Worsham Gallant (husband Matthew Gallant) of Los Angeles, Carlye Worsham of Amarillo and Ethan Worsham of New York City, great grandchildren Josephine Gallant, Simon Gallant and Taeghan Worsham.

And her son Jeff Worsham, his wife Amy Worsham, grandchildren Luke Worsham, Elizabeth Worsham, and William Worsham – all of Amarillo.
