Emma Lou Cobb

November 29, 1937 — September 8, 2025

Emma Lou Cobb, 87, of Amarillo, TX, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, September 8, 2025.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Texola Cemetery in Texola, OK. Family and friends are invited to visitation on Sunday, September 14, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Emma Lou was born on November 29, 1937, in Beaver County, OK, to Frank and Captolia Miller. She spent her childhood on small farms in rural western Oklahoma, attending one-room schoolhouses in Hardesty and Hext. Those simple beginnings instilled in her a quiet strength and gentle spirit that she carried throughout her life.

Lou married Louis Cobb on June 11, 1954 in Texola, OK, where he was serving as a visiting preacher. Together they shared more than five decades of marriage and ministry, faithfully moving wherever the Lord led—from Amarillo, TX, to Mineola, KS, to Coolidge, AZ, to Tonkawa, OK, and Sheboygan, WI. Wherever Louis preached, Lou lovingly stood beside him as a steadfast partner. In 1981, they returned to Sanford, TX, to care for her parents. Later, in the 1990s, she pursued her calling to nurture others beyond her family by becoming a licensed vocational nurse.

Emma Lou was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Louis Cobb; her brother, James Miller; and her son-in-law, Steve Toillion.

Known affectionately as “Mom” and “Grammy,” Lou’s greatest joy was her family. Her faith in Christ was the foundation of her home and the legacy she leaves behind. She is survived by her four children: Jolene Fudge and husband Darrell, Jana Toillion, Jimmy Cobb and wife Amy, and John Cobb and wife Stephanie. Lou was a devoted grandmother to nine grandchildren: Alaina Flores and husband Ryan, Ben Fudge and partner Roland Martin, Kristin Johansen and husband Kelly, Alyssa Toillion, Kyle Toillion and wife Emma, Candra Cobb, Franklin Cobb, Ruthie Cobb, and Jason Nailling. Her blessings multiplied with the arrival of five great-grandchildren: Aurora and Sedona Flores, Jaxton and Adelade Johansen, and little Blake Toillion

Lou will be remembered for her gentle soul, her deep love for God, her devotion to her family, and her fondness for children and cats. In her later years, she found joy in simple pleasures—quilting with care, savoring strawberry milkshakes from Braum’s on warm afternoons, and offering kindness to every stray cat that crossed her porch. Though soft-spoken, her life spoke volumes, and her legacy of love, faith, and quiet strength will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
