Eula was born February 1, 1949 in Amarillo, TX to Jim and Shug Alford. Eula graduated from Palo Duro High School. She married her soul mate Jim Bax at St. Lawrence Catholic church in Amarillo Tx on August 25, 1967. They were happily married for 58 years. Jim always referred to her as “Babe”.

Eula’s occupation was Mama and Grandma. She was very strong and the glue that held the family together.

Eula (Babe), (Momma) never knew a stranger. She always had a beautiful smile on her face. Wherever she went, she had a gift for striking up a conversation, making people feel seen, and turning everyday moments into meaningful exchanges. She had a way of knowing all that was going on around her—especially around her home and on her block—always aware, always caring, and always involved in the lives around her.

Evenings were a cherished time for Babe. Life slowed down as she and her beloved Jim sat together in their rocking chairs, cold beers in hand, watching the neighborhood and, in her own way, solving all of life’s problems. Those quiet moments—filled with conversation, observation, and simple joy—captured the essence of who she was: present, thoughtful, and content with life’s simple pleasures. She loved listening to music while playing pool, cornhole and games with the family. Eula won first place in the last family cornhole tournament with her nephew Cory Alford.

Babe was a devoted mother whose love was steady and strong, a woman whose warmth drew people in, and a presence that brought comfort just by being there. Her laughter, her curiosity about others, and her unmistakable way of making everyone feel welcome will be deeply missed. Her beautiful smile will always be remembered. She never went anywhere without her hair and make up being done.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Shug Alford, sisters Peggy Koetting, Jo Ann Meyer and brother Charlie Alford.

Eula is survived by her husband Jim; son Mark Bax and wife Leslie; daughter Denise Kerbs and husband Jeff; daughter Monica Gosser and husband Josh; grandchildren Michael Bax and wife Stephanie, Hayden Bax and Samantha Kerbs; great-grandchildren Chloe and Calli; brothers Larry Alford and Wife Shannon, Lawson Alford and wife Pat; sister Linda Robinson; and all her fur babies Lucy, Lacy, and Blue
