Evelyn Marie Wells
Evelyn Marie Wells, 96, of Amarillo, TX passed away on April 10, 2024.
Memorial service will be at 1:00 P.M., Monday, April 15, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Inurnment will be in Brookside Memorial Park Cemetery in Houston, TX. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Evelyn was born May 15, 1927, in Jacksonville, TX to Henry and Novie Dotson. She graduated from Jacksonville High School then attended UT in Austin and SW Texas University in San Marcos earning a double Master’s in English and Speech Therapy. After graduation, she took a position with Amarillo ISD where she taught English and Speech Therapy her entire career. Evelyn was a lifetime member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and was very involved with Daughters of the King. She loved reading and being in her book club. Evelyn was also a member of Retired Teachers and Chapter CM-PEO Antique Club. She was a spitfire! Evelyn and Edgar were married almost 50 years before his passing on December 18, 2002.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar Wells; and her brother, James Dotson.
Evelyn is survived by her son, John Wells and wife Melinda; grandchildren, Michael Wells and wife Erika, and Sarah Turley and husband Jacob; great-grandchildren, Colton Wells, Hunter Turley, Wiley Turley, and Emery Turley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
