Ferenc Lakat, 86, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on July 3, 2026.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2026, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Volleys for Veterans.
Ferenc was born in Hungary on April 24, 1940, to Maria (Szalai) and Ferenc Lakat. He served six years in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He wore his wings with great pride.
He married Frances on January 2, 1992, in St. Petersburg, Florida.
In his free time, he and his wife, Frances, enjoyed the competition of archery. They traveled from state to state participating in Senior Games, where he won many awards and medals.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Frances Lakat, of the home; and his sons, Ferenc Lakat, Zolton Lakat, and Attila Lakat.
