With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Fernando "Fern" Buendia Acuna, who departed this world on April 1, 2026, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 31 years, 6 months and 11 days
Born on September 21, 1994, in Denver, Colorado, Fernando lived a life imbued with compassion and determination. A proud member of the United States Marine Corps, he rose to the rank of Corporal and served his country with honor and distinction. His leadership was defined by patience and resolve, earning him admiration from those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.
Beyond his military service, Fernando found joy in life’s simple yet profound moments. He delighted in watching movies, spending time at the gun range, taking walks, savoring good food and meaningful conversations all while exploring the world around him. These passions brought him happiness and allowed him to create lasting bonds with others.
Family was central to Fernando’s heart. He is survived by his beloved mother Guadalupe Acuna Castillo; his sister Karina Buendía and her husband Eugenio Mojarro; his brothers Saul Buendia, Sam Buendia, and Israel Buendia; as well as his cherished nephew David Buendia and nieces Aryana Buendia, Anayelli Buendia, and Genesis Buendia; and his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. His presence was a source of warmth and strength for them—a legacy they will hold dear forever.
Those who knew Fernando remember him as a kind, stalwart soul whose curiosity touched every corner of his life. His ability to balance empathy with steadfastness left an indelible mark on all who crossed paths with him.
