Floyd "Buddy" Wayne Kinikin

Floyd “Buddy” Wayne Kinikin, 66, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on August 8, 2025.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Llano Cemetery, with Chris Condit officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Buddy was born on January 22, 1959, in Abilene, Texas, to Lloyd D. and Ruth Idell (Smith) Kinikin. Over the years, he worked hard in a variety of roles, including as a forklift operator at Affiliated Foods, and at Schwan’s and Advanced Pavement.

On August 26, 2017, Buddy married Rita Nell Foster in Amarillo, where they built a loving home together.

Buddy had a zest for life and a generous spirit. He loved to dance, fish, and collect all kinds of items that brought him joy. He was also a proud member of Hillside Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Kinikin of Amarillo; sons Kevin Kinikin and wife Kelly, Anson Kinikin, and Floyd Kinikin and wife Robin, all of Amarillo; daughters Shantha Ackors and husband Jeremy of Amarillo, and Taylor Cochrane and husband Seth of Roswell, NM; step-daughter Jennifer Roesler and husband Austin, and step-son James Thompson, both of Amarillo. He is also survived by his sisters Darla Kennedy and husband L.T., and Lovoice Nored and husband Jerry; brother Nate Graham and wife Denise—all of Amarillo. Buddy leaves behind nineteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a home filled with love, including his three dogs (Otter, Petey, and Phantom), his horse (Blu), and his beloved chickens, affectionately known as his "feathered soccer balls."

Buddy will be remembered for his fun-loving nature, his deep love for his family, and the simple joys he found in everyday life.
