Frances Baker, 87, of Amarillo, died Monday, June 2, 2025.
The family visitation will be on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 9, 2025, at Anna St. Church of Christ with Nathan Keller officiating. Frances was born June 14, 1937 in Seymour, TX to Oleta and Ross Robertson. She grew up in and around Clarksville, TX and graduated from Clarksville High School in 1955. She moved to Amarillo in 1959 with her family and worked for Smith and Sons furniture as a bookkeeper. During this time, she met the love of her life, Marvin Baker, and they were married on July 20, 1962. In 1963, they welcomed their first child, and she made a choice to stay at home and focus on building a family with hard work and love. Through the years, this family grew to include three more children, 3 daughters-in-law, 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild (with another on the way).
She was an accomplished baker, and her cherry and pecan pies especially were favorite requests during the holidays. She loved family get-togethers and especially cherished time with her grandchildren. They were all the pride and joy of her life and could bring a smile to her face quicker than anything.
She was a member of the Anna St. Church of Christ where she faithfully attended all services until she was no longer able. She and her husband attended Fairlane Church of Christ for over 45 years before his passing in 2011. Together, they served the Lord faithfully and showed what it meant to model Christ in their lives as they served others. She read her Bible daily, morning and night, and was always willing to learn more of what God’s will was in her life.
Her family will always remember her as an amazing mother and nana, and they will forever remember the lessons she taught them through a life lived full of humility, graciousness, mercy and LOVE!
Frances was preceded in death by parents, her husband, a sister, Carol Heinfeldt, brother, Jim Robertson, brother-in-law, Maurice Westbrook and sister-in-law, Judy Robertson.
She is survived by her children, Marvin Baker, Jr and wife Leslie of Highland Village, TX., Clarissa Baker of Amarillo, Theron Baker and wife Brenda of Borger, TX, Billy Baker and wife Jennifer of Amarillo, and a daughter by marriage, Nancy Leonard and husband Danny of San Antonio, TX.; grandchildren, Sarah Baker, Kyla Myers and Husband Josh, Emily Baker, Josh Baker, Megan Baker, Kristen Baker, Hannah Baker and Sophie Baker; great-grandson, Robert Myers; sisters, Dorothy Westbrook of Longview, TX, Becky Whitehead and husband Scott of Amarillo; brothers, Sonny Robertson of Amarillo, Wayne Robertson and wife Haroldlena of Amarillo; sister-in-Law Cordelia Robertson; brother-in-Law, Dave Heinfeldt, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and special friends of over 60 years, Ben and Marilyn Harris.
