Gayle Ruth Noble Funk

Gayle Ruth Noble Funk, 85, of Amarillo, TX, went to see Jesus on August 26, 2026. 

Gayle was born on August 3, 1941 in Moore County, at the Continental Carbon Black Housing between Dumas and Sunray, TX. She was the daughter of T.W. and Pauline Ruth (Davis) Noble.

Gayle grew up in Dumas, TX and moved to Amarillo as an adult where she married and had her family. She later moved back to Dumas, remarried, and was a homemaker, taking care of her own children and those of her husband-eight children total. Gayle taught Sunday School at Temple Baptist Church. She also accompanied the youth to Mexico on a mission trip.

Her children have fond memories of the “one-on-one” times with her when they were growing up. Their mom’s advice was meaningful during trying times. Later, Gayle returned to work outside the home and relocated back to Amarillo. She made many friends with co-workers and was loved by all her customers while working at Toot-N-Totum, where she was a manager. Many of them even called her “Mom”. Gayle was a passionate “pet mom”! Among her many fur-babies, a kitty named “Ki-ki” lived to the age of twenty!

Later in life Gayle became a mother figure to the men in Victory Outreach Men’s Home, and volunteered as their book-keeper. She even made each person’s favorite cake for their birthday! All the residents affectionately called her “Momma Gayle”.

Some of her favorite activities were attending church and shopping for the grandchildren’s Christmas presents! She was also an avid reader, a love she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was known to store her many, many books in 55-gallon drums!

Gayle was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Ruth (Davis) Noble; father, T. W. Noble; brother Wayne Noble; sons Mickey and Keven Irvin; granddaughters April (Irvin) Washington and Tara Bonsal; and step-son, David Funk. Gayle is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sabrina and Cecil Gipson of Dumas; daughter-in-law Belinda Irvin of Dumas; son and daughter-in-law Guy and Holly Irvin of Abilene; daughter and son-in-law Renae and Kendall Miller of Amarillo; step-daughter, Janet White and husband Jim of Amarillo.

She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren, 3 nieces, 6 great-nieces/nephews, and 11 great-great nieces/nephews. Gayle loved all her family fiercely and would do anything for them.

Gayle’s smile was contagious and her heart selfless. She loved serving others and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

The family wishes to thank everyone that came to visit Gayle. A special thanks from the family to Darrell and Sidona Rogers, who Gayle called “her angel”, to Rick and Jaci Chadick for all their love and support, and especially to our “Loft Family” for everything they did-the visits, calls, and prayers-during this time.

Memorial service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 29, 2026 at The Loft Church, 4400 S. Georgia. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
