Gerald was born in Amarillo, Texas, on September 25, 1964, to Willie James Adams and Shirley Adams (Murkeldove). He was the third of four children and attended schools in the Amarillo School District, graduating from Amarillo High School.

He started perfecting his “gift of gab” in his teen years while working in his dad’s hotels, motels and The Doll House nightclub. He worked different jobs, trying to find his passion, including Cash Savers, Amarillo Independent School District, and Potter County Road & Bridge department. His search came to an end when he discovered his gifts and skills in cosmetology. He also determined that his creativity came alive when he discovered his natural talent for furniture repair. He liked to find items others considered trash and give it a whole new life so others could see its value.

Finding value in items was one way Gerald revealed hidden beauty. He also discovered a beautiful life when he met and married Katrina Benard and they had two beautiful children that gave them four adorable grandchildren. They also opened their home to other children, giving them the love of grandparents or a friend that helped them to see their own value.

Gerald had three names he was known by because he had three different persons in one body. Jerry was the fun jokester and everyone’s friend. Bacco was the protector of those he loved. And Gerald was the caregiver and provider for those in his heart.

His other great love was for his grandchildren, children and wife…in that order. He also had a special self-appointed granddaughter. He was quick to love, quick to forgive, and quick to help anyone in need. He had many close friends and loved ones, but he had a very special bond with his niece, Daina Anderson.

There came a point he was not able to work, but kept himself busy cooking for family and friends. He was known for his peach cobbler, chicken and dumplings and enchiladas with his own homemade sauce. His generosity and quick smile will be missed by all who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie James Adams; a sister, Teresa Gail Adams; his father-in-law, JB Benard, his mother-in-law and best friend, Dora Benard and a granddaughter, J’Nysti Jazzmeia Young.

He leaves to treasure their memories of him his wife of 41 years, Katrina Adams; a daughter, Dora (Terance) Young; a son, Dwayne Adams, Jr.; four grandchildren, T’Audrien and T’Auannah Young, Dylan and Draxton Adams; his mother, Shirley Murkeldove of Amarillo; two brothers, Gary (Vicky) Adams of Houston, and Victor (Cynthia) Adams of Amarillo; a special granddaughter, Sydnie Anderson; several godchildren, Michael Gauna, Justin Ott, Denis Kalfic-Franjkic, Randy Mixon, Pedro and Nikita Hernandez, Shanika Fisher; and a multitude of nieces, nephew, family and friends.
