Gerald Dickson “Dick” Railsback, 92, of Amarillo, died Friday, June 13, 2025.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Happy Cemetery in Happy, Texas. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Dick was born on February 8, 1933 in Colorado City, Texas to Mary and Homer Railsback. He graduated from Rotan High School and West Texas State University where he earned his Economics degree. Dick had many roles in the school district, including school administrator, high school principal, basketball coach, assistant football coach, and he even drove the school bus.
Dick loved coaching and teaching and then went on to invest in owning a grain elevator in Happy, TX. During this time he owned and operated the marina at Lake Mackenzie. He later owned a grocery store in Angel Fire, NM. In the early 90’s he started purchasing and servicing FDIC loans from closed banks.
He married Jeannette House Morris on January 31, 2016. A favorite pastime of theirs was attending athletic functions and other events at WTA&M University, of which he was a zealous fan for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Sandy Finlayson and Linda Mahard; sister, Jo Streetman; grandson, Tyler Finlayson; and first wife Joyce Railsback.
Dick is survived by his wife, Jeannette Railsback; children: Brenda Keener and husband Robert, and Scott Railsback and wife Cynthia; sons-in-law, John Finlayson and Andy Mahard; grandchildren, Jared Price and wife Clarissa, Erica Perry and husband Zane, Tony Finlayson and wife Brittani, Kaitlin Mahard, Shelby Mahard, Blair Love and husband Lucas, Claire Young and husband Catfish, and Jake Railsback; great-grandchildren: Benjamin Price, Presley Perry, Finlay Perry, Walker Perry, Cody Finlayson, Kylie Finlayson, Rhett Lovejoy, Leighton Lovejoy, Asa Love, and Margo Love; step-children: Matt Morris and wife Denise, John Morris and wife Tishia, Paul Morris and wife Heather, Caralisa Mayo and husband Clay, Angelena Morris and wife April; and many step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
