Hasen Ibro Usman

Hasen Usman, 74, of Amarillo, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Hasen was born on May 10, 1951, in Hulul, Ethiopia, to Rabia Ahmed and Usman Ibro. His commitment to education led him to become the first person from his small village to leave home and attend a formal school. In 1981, he immigrated to the United States and made Amarillo his home, where he spent 28 years working at Tyson Foods.

Hasen was dedicated to helping others. He was known for his generosity in supporting Amarillo’s refugee community and for his kindness to all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Fatuma; his sons, Sean and his wife Brittany, and Adam and his wife Charisse; and his cherished grandchildren, Evan, Julia, Alexander, and Cameron.
