Homer Almus Groneman

September 27, 1968 — February 21, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Homer Groneman announces his passing on Feb. 21, 2026. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Vega, on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 2:00 pm. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

The family asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral costs, or the First Baptist Church of Vega and their continued work of ministry and sharing the gospel.

Homer was born September 27, 1968, to Jacqueline and Homer Yocum in Stuttgart, Germany. He hit the ground running in Vega, Texas and would spend most of his life there. In his early years he could be found roaming around the COOP, some would say, “with a mouth that would make a sailor blush!” When Homer was 12, his mom remarried Calvin Groneman of Vega, Texas whose name Homer would take and who would be Dad for the rest of his life. Homer graduated in 1987 from Vega High School, then and until the day he passed, a proud Longhorn. On March 31st, 1989, Homer married Yuvonne Benton and was blessed in their 12 years together with 3 sons, Steven, Christopher, and Tyler. In October 2000, Homer remarried Cindy Pence of Vega and spent the next 25 years happily together blessing him with two stepchildren, Neal and Kyla Ducheneaux. Homer spent many years and amassed millions of miles hauling freight from coast to coast, plains to mountains. He wanted his lawn to look the best, and he could make a vehicle last a lifetime with proper maintenance and care. Homer had an innate ability to make people feel seen, feel purposeful, and to feel loved. He will be greatly missed as we strive to carry his spirit on. From all the Bandit gang, we love you Coach!

Homer was preceded in death by his granny, Mabel Yocum, his loving Mother, Jacqueline Groneman, his father, Homer Yocum, his aunt, Ronnie Varian, and his cousin Kailee Yocum.

Homer is survived by his Father and Stepmother, Calvin and Janice Groneman of Vega, Texas. His sister Margarite Groneman of Vega, Texas. His 5 children and their wonderful spouses, Steven and Madison Groneman of Searcy, Arkansas, Neil and Marina Ducheneaux of Amarillo, Texas, Christopher and Krystal Groneman of Amarillo, Texas, Tyler and Chelsea Groneman of Whitesboro, Texas, and Kyla and Blake Reel of Wickes, Arkansas. He is also survived by 13 wonderful grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, and his true pride and joy.
