Houston Reed Ewing

Houston Reed Ewing, 84, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, three days before his 85th birthday. He was born on September 19, 1941.

Visitation will be from 2-4:00 PM, Sunday, September 20, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Houston was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent more than 30 years as a general manager for a commercial cleaning company. He took great pride in his work and in providing for and caring for his family.

On August 17, 1961, Houston married the love of his life, Glenda Kay Latham, in Sunray, Texas. Together, they built a life centered around family, hard work, and countless memories that will be cherished for generations to come.

Outside of work, Houston enjoyed many things, especially fishing, building, and carpentry. He was a man who enjoyed working with his hands and creating things. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandson Connor race dirt track cars. Being there to watch Connor compete was something Houston looked forward to and took great pride in.

Some of Houston's proudest moments came from watching his grandchildren grow and achieve their goals. He was especially proud to see his granddaughters Katie and Jadyn graduate from college. He also treasured the time he spent hunting with his oldest grandson, Jacob—memories that will remain with his family forever.

Houston was preceded in death by his parents, Willie B. Ewing and Lora Mae Ewing; and his brother, Guestler Ewing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Glenda Kay Ewing; his sons, Allen Ewing and wife Janet, and Michael Ewing and wife Renee; his sister, Hazel Risley and husband James, and their children, James and Dianne; his brother-in-law, Larry Bolton, and his children, Karen and Scott; his grandchildren, Katie Vagrosky and husband Hunter, Jacob Ewing and wife Shea, Jadyn Ewing, and Connor Ewing; and his great-grandchildren, Carter and Collins Vagrosky, and Barrett and Brecklyn Duff.

Houston and Glenda Kay loved their time at the cabin in the mountains of Colorado where they have many friends and loved ones.

Houston will be remembered as a hardworking husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a man who found joy in the simple things—working with his hands, fishing, hunting, and most of all, spending time with the people he loved.

His family will forever cherish the memories he gave them and the legacy of love, hard work, and family that he leaves behind.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
