Irene B. DeSanchez, 88, of Amarillo, died Friday, May 3, 2024.

Rosary will be at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Services will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Father Anthony Neusch officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Irene was born on May 20, 1935, in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Maxima and Juan Hernandez. She had been a textile worker at Burlington in Post, Texas until the plant closed of which, she retired after 30 years of service.

She married Alfonso Sanchez on December 22, 1956. They moved to the United States in 1957.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso Sanchez; her father, Juan Hernandez; her mother, Maxima Guerrola Hernandez, her sister, Pilar Hernandez; four brothers, Alberto Hernandez, Raphael Hernandez, Jesus Hernandez, and Juan Hernandez. She was the last surviving sibling.

She is survived by her son, Ricardo Sanchez and wife Alice of Amarillo; grandson, Ricardo Alfonso Sanchez of Amarillo; granddaughter-in-love, Amanda Castillo and husband Eric of Amarillo; grandson, Salvador Tito Sanchez of Little Elm, TX; two great-granddaughters, Carolina Sanchez and Araceli Sanchez both of Oklahoma City; three great-grandsons-in-love, Andrew Sanchez, Christopher Sanchez, and Adrien Castillo, all of Amarillo; her great-granddaughter-in-love, Lauren Castillo of Amarillo; her ex-daughter-in-law, Sylvia Sanchez of Amarillo; and many nephews and nieces.
