Jacob “Jake” Lee Miller, 39,

of Amarillo, passed away on June 17, 2023.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Hillside Christian Church Northwest Campus, 600 Tascosa Rd.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Jake was born on Father’s Day, June 17, 1984, in Andrews, Texas to Tim and Kyla Miller.  His first partner in crime, Benjamin made his debut in 1986 and his second partner in crime, James made his appearance in 1988.  All three brothers were born in the same hospital, the same room, and by the same doctor.

In 1989, the family moved from Andrews, TX to Midland, TX, where Jake attended elementary school.  In 1994 at Crestview Baptist Church, Jake accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized.  In 1996 the family moved to Hobbs,

NM.  Jake attended school in Hobbs his 7

through 10

grade years.  In 2000, the family took another adventure and moved to Kuwait.  Jake graduated high school from The American School of Kuwait.  He earned awards in French, Arabic, Spanish, & History.

Jake attend Amarillo College for two years in Amarillo, Texas before moving to Huntsville, TX, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with honors from Sam Houston State University.

From an early age, Jake was a fierce defender of the underdog.  With a calling to serve his community, he continued being a defender.  Jake moved back to Amarillo where he became a police officer for the Amarillo Police Department.  While at Amarillo Police Department, Jake was a Field Training Officer, Honor Guard, Detective in Special Crimes, and Crime Scene Investigator.  In 2019, Jake left the APD and pursued his own lawn care service.

On May 22, 2010, Jake and Allex were married.  Kinsler Amelia was born on July 16, 2011, and Theo AB on May 9, 2015.  Allex, Kinsler, & Theo were the loves of Jake’s life.  He was a devoted husband and father.  Jake’s greatest blessings and pride were with these three people.

He was passionate about his family, history, fishing, and anything outdoors.  Jake has been a hero to many people and his absence will be deeply felt.

Jake is preceded in death by his grandparents; Richard and Glenda Miller and Wayne and Sibbie Saunders.

Jake is survived by his wife, Allex; children Kinsler and Theo of the home; Mother, Kyla Miller of Amarillo, TX; Father, Tim Miller of Frisco, TX; Mother-in-law, Veronica Fierro of Amarillo, TX; Brother Benjamin Miller, wife Janna, and their children, Lucas and Katelyn of McKinney, TX; Brother James Miller, wife Lauren, and their children, Holland, Lucy, and Ezra of Kapolei, Hawaii; Niece Azeliah of San Antonio, TX; Numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

In lieu of flowers, we have set up a “Jake Miller Memorial Fund” at Amarillo National Bank.  Donations can be made at any Amarillo National Bank location starting Wednesday.
