Amarillo

James “Jim” Gerald Heisler entered the gates of Heaven on May 29, 2025.

A Service will be held at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, Texas. A private family burial will take place at the Jericho Cemetery. Arrangements are made by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Jim was born on February 27, 1932, in Mapleton, Iowa, to John and Dora Heisler. He loved spending time with his sisters, Agnes and Annabelle, and his younger brother, Jack. Growing up, he helped out at his dad’s cream station, where he learned the value of hard work early on.

Jim was a true “jack of all trades”. Just about everyone who knew Jim had a story about how he’d helped them out. Whether it was fixing something, building something, or just lending a hand when it was needed most, he was always there for others.

Jim joined the United States Air Force December 26, 1951, and was stationed in Amarillo, where he served as an aircraft mechanic instructor. While working an Air Force exhibit at the fair, he met a young woman who would change his life—Jean. That meeting was the beginning of a love story that would span over seven decades.

Jim and Jean married on October 9, 1954, and began building a life together, welcoming four children along the way: Sheryl, Brian, Brad, and Jimmy. Jim worked hard to provide for his family. His career at Pantex spanned over 35 years. He was dependable, hardworking, and always put his family first. He loved hanging out with Jean and the kids. Whether they were out camping, hitting the road to visit family in Iowa, or building a bike from old parts that would become the envy of all the neighborhood kids. Those were the moments he lived for.

Jim showed what it meant to be a devoted husband by loving Jean with consistent, Christ-like love every day of their life together. If there was something she enjoyed, he was right there supporting her whether it was baking, garage selling, or feeding every bird that visited the backyard (except the grackles).

Jim and Jean were beloved pillars of faith and community who devoted over 40 years to hosting Bible studies in their home. Their open door and warm hearts welcomed countless individuals, guiding many to the Lord and inspiring missionary work around the world.

They contributed to the early development of Trinity Fellowship Church, where they faithfully worshipped and served for many years. Their commitment to spiritual growth and outreach left a profound legacy that continues to bless lives far beyond their own home.

Jim was extremely proud of his children, but the love and pride he held for his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren was truly unparalleled. His joy was multiplied through each generation, and his legacy of faith and love lives on in all of them.

Jim’s dedication to his faith, his family, and to serving others was evident in every aspect of his life. His relationship and dedication to God left a legacy that is impacting multiple generations. He will be deeply missed, but the influence of his life and love will be remembered and cherished always.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, and his parents, John and Dora Heisler, two sisters, Agnes and Annabelle, two brothers, Jack and Marion, daughter-in-law, Caron, and son-in-law, Billy.

He is survived by his daughter, Sheryl White and husband, Curtis, and sons Brian Heisler and wife, Mary, Brad Heisler, Jimmy Heisler, and daughter-in-law Teresa Heisler, along with his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandsons.
