Jimmy is survived by his younger brother and built in best friend Jerry Jones, His daughter Berklee Holloway and husband Trevor Holloway, His son Dillan Jones and fiance Taylor Hill, and Granddaughter Henlee Holloway. Jimmy also had two stepchildren he loved and considered his own, Stepson Dustin Smith and stepdaughter Brittany Smith. Dustin and wife Jennifer Smith blessed Jimmy with three grandsons and one granddaughter, Denver, Carter, Kemper and Maggie. Brittany blessed Jimmy with three grandsons, Beckam, Raleigh, and Smisson. He loved all of his family with his whole heart.
Jimmy and his brother Jerry were raised in a Christian household by great parents (Cliff and Della Jones), After graduating from Tascosa High School in 1972, Jimmy accepted a job with BNSF railway. He began his career working in the welding shop before eventually becoming a signalman. BNSF was Jimmy's first serious job, and he kept if for thirty seven years.
When Jimmy was not working on the railroad he cherished every moment with his kids. Many afternoons were spent swimming and laying out by the pool at the Elks Lodge. The same pool Jimmy and his brother Jerry grew up using many years prior. Jimmy loved to load the kids up in his Ford Bronco to go feed the ducks at the lake, Go drive old farm roads "turtle hunting" or to simply just get out of the house and take a drive. Many weekends were spent riding one of his many motorcycles up and down 6th street or around the lake, oftentimes with his son Dillan sitting behind him hanging on for dear life.
All of the neighborhood kids loved Jimmy, He would sometimes bring a large watermelon home, cut it lengthwise, hand out spoons and just chuckle and grin while the kids had a feast in the yard. Jimmy was talented along with his brother Jerry. Jimmy could ride a unicycle the length of a city block, and his brother Jerry is the "wheelie king" riding wheelies on dirt bikes for long lengths of time over obstacles and around motocross tracks. Jimmy often took the kids to watch Uncle Jerry perform his stunts at the dirt track races. The kids are very proud of their dad and uncle.
Road trips to Colorado to see the mountains were frequent with Jimmy while the kids were growing up. Jimmy loved the mountains, and countless memories were made on these trips. On one of many of these trips the old Ford Bronco would not start. With Jimmy having his mother Della, Berklee and Dillan in tow, they were broken down in a small town before cell phones with no parts stores around. Jimmy took off on foot to find a solution, within an hour Jimmy showed back up fixed the starter and they were on the road again. Jimmy was a man who would do anything for his family.
Jimmy enjoyed his retirement and occupied his time working on the many cars and properties that he owned. He also kept up with the same group of friends from his childhood and the railroad, he loved them all dearly.
He spent his final days in the company of loved ones and always explained his love and how grateful he was that they were there.
Jimmy set an example of selflessness, humbleness and kindness.
He will be missed by many.
