James “Jimmy” Carlton Rhoderick, III, 83, of Amarillo, TX died Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Davlyn Duesterhaus officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Jimmy was born in Matador, TX, on June 18, 1942, to James and Loretha (Harrison) Rhoderick II. He graduated from Plainview High School and attended college in Levelland. Until 1961, when he went to work for his father and grandfather at Rhoderick Hill Feedyards and Auction Barns, he could be found out on the professional bull riding circuit. Starting in the late 1970s, he began buying cattle and became a highly respected cattle broker for the remainder of his life. He ended every cattle deal with a handshake.
On August 19, 1994, he married Cheryl Palmer at First Christian Church in Amarillo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jerry Edwin Rhoderick.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Cheryl Rhoderick, of Amarillo, TX; daughters, Wresha Rhoderick, of Austin, TX, and Stacey Bird and husband David of Amarillo, TX; stepson, Clint Garrison and wife Noi, of Rockwall, TX; brother, Eddie Rhoderick and wife Rovella, of Silverton, TX; grandchildren, Braden, Max, Klaire, Erica, Sarah, Walker, Hayden, and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Ellison (E.J.), Eden, Logan, Declan, Traeger, Sutton, Ellis, Alex, Austin, and Sophie; and great-great-granddaughter, Juliet.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
