James "Mike" Michael Proctor

James "Mike" Michael Proctor, 81, of Amarillo, TX passed away June 17, 2026.

Memorial service will be at 4:00 PM, Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Mike was born August 11, 1944 in Houston, TX to C.W. and Betty Sue Proctor. He grew up in Spur, TX then moved to Amarillo, TX where he graduated from Amarillo High School. He married Betty Lay in September of 1969. Mike was a paramedic in Amarillo then served as operations manager for Austin Ambulance Service. Mike was instrumental in greater safety practices for emergency medical systems nationwide.

Mike obtained his real estate license and would later become one of the lead commercial review appraisers in Texas. As his parents aged, he moved back to Amarillo, TX and re-entered the medical world with CCU at Northwest Texas Hospital then retired from the VA Hospital.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Proctor in September of 2021.

Mike is survived by his daughters, Kelly Lewis and Bob Whittington, and Angela and Roger Rodriguez; grandchildren, Ashley Lewis and Jordan Jones, Brittany and Braydon Cahoon, Kirk Lewis and Katie Anderson, Brooke Proctor, Charles and Addison Barnes, and Jayden Myers; stepsons, Carroll Lingle Jr. and wife Elania, and Gary Lingle; and several great-grandchildren.
