Jan Leigh Melton

Jan Leigh Melton, age 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by the family on October 20, 2026.

Jan, she spent her entire life nurturing. A devoted mother and grandmother, she dedicated every day to making her home a sanctuary of love, warmth, and laughter.

Jan is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, David Melton, who was her constant partner and the love of her life. She is also remembered with love by her son, Brian, and his wife, Brooke; her brother, Jerry Huggins, and his wife, Melinda; and her sister, Carol, and her husband, Ronnie Swafford. Her greatest pride and joy were her three grandchildren—Hunter Stewart and his wife, Andie; Bryce Melton; and Breken Melton—and her three great-grandchildren, Charlie Dawn, Colter Wayne, and Bryan Cash, all of whom she cherished above all else. She celebrated every milestone in their lives, and her face lit up with joy whenever they were near. Jan leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Misty, and her parents, Aldon and Charline Huggins, with whom she is now peacefully reunited.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24th at 10:30 am at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
