Jimmy Lee Brown

Jimmy Lee Brown, 87, of Amarillo, TX passed away September 7, 2026.

Memorial service will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Oasis Baptist Church, 8201 Canyon Dr. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Jimmy was born July 27, 1939 in Miami, OK to Bob and Marie Brown. He left high school in Miami, OK to join the United States Airforce serving for 4 years. Jimmy moved to McLean, TX and worked at a gas station where he met Alice. They later got married and moved to California for 3 months, then back to McLean in 1961. Jimmy and Alice welcomed their only son, Terry in 1963 in Groom, TX. He then worked for South Western Bell in Amarillo, TX for 25 years. Jimmy then became the general manager at FCI for 10 years.

Jimmy’s pride and joy were his 3 grandkids who he and Alice stepped up to raise. His joy was taking the family in the motor home and touring the country; his favorite place being Palo Duro Canyon. He also saw 35 of the 50 states and most all of Canada.

Jimmy was a member of Oasis Southwest Baptist Church and in his retirement, he could be found at Whataburger enjoying coffee with his friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Alice Brown in 2022; son, Terry Brown in 2015; and daughter in law, Christine in 2004.

Jimmy is survived by grandchildren, Timothy Brown (Crissy), Robert Brown (Allison), and Heather Brown (Kylie); great-grandchildren, Larissa, Tyler, Christain, and Liam; and brothers, Elliott Brown of Tulsa, OK, Tommy Brown and wife Claire of Florida, and Fred Brown and wife Susan of Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Oasis Southwest Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.
