Mario Delgado

Joe Mario Delgado, 71, of Amarillo died Monday, 02 November 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. – 6:30 P.M., Wednesday, 04 November 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

Mario was born on September 26, 1955 in San Angelo, TX, the oldest of Joe and Ida Delgado's five children. He attended Palo Duro High School where he played football, graduating in 1974. He furthered his education at Southwest Missouri State University.

Mario served honorably in the United States Army before following in his dad's footsteps and joining Ryder for a successful career in trucking and logistics. Through his work life and into retirement, Mario enjoyed working on cars and hot rods.

Mario was previously married to his high school sweetheart, Shanda Williams Johnson, and together they had two children: Jennifer and Michael. He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Delgado; his parents; and a brother, Tony Delgado.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Glenn; granddaughter, Valerie Glenn; siblings Cecelia Kerr, Danny Delgado, Albert Delgado and numerous nieces and nephews and devoted friends.

The family is grateful for the honor, respect, care, and comfort shown to Mario by the inpatient hospice staff at the Amarillo VA Hospital.
