A visitation for John Ebling will be held on Monday, April 13 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. The Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Paramount Baptist Church, 3801 S. Western. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers, Amarillo, Texas.
John Siegrist Ebling was born June 19th , 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri; he went home to be with Jesus on April 8, 2026. Growing up, John and his family lived in Shawnee Mission Kansas. He attended and graduated from University of Kansas with a BS degree in Journalism. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Price Ebling, and his mother, Marjorie Louise Siegrist. He is survived by his wife, Gayle,
who he married July 10, 1976, his daughters, Sarah and Lisa, and their families (Sarah/Caleb Rejino, grandsons: Joel and Daniel; Lisa/Paul Conn: grandchildren, Emmy, Luke, and Abby), his two brothers: Frank and wife Sarah and Bruce and wife Ann: nieces, Katherine, husband Andi , Hannah, husband Parker, and Maddy.)
John will be remembered by so many descriptions. In fact, many people have such a varied list of remembrances of him, but the ones that spoke to us the most were kind, generous, creative, funny, consistent, reliable, and everything Kansas Jayhawk.
In John’s professional life, he was a photographer, and he worked in many professions as one. His various jobs included, The Globe News, manager of Texas Camera Center, owner of John Ebling Creative Photography, Pantex, and in retirement continued to sell his photography to the public.
He was a longtime member of Paramount Baptist Church. He served in various capacities which included: greeter, Sunday school teacher, small group leader, and a photographer (as needed).
He loved meeting new people and would often talk with you as long as needed. He never met a stranger, and almost everywhere he went, he would meet someone who knew someone else he knew. These encounters would give his family a good laugh.
He was our family photographer----and will be dearly missed. He took all of our yearly portraits and family events. There were lots of pictures throughout the years, and he never took 1 or 2 instead he would take over 25. He will be sorely missed. John was a one-of-a-kind guy that will be greatly missed by so many, but know this—he loved his family, his friends, and his God and in the end that is enough. His treasure was in the family and friends that he knew and loved.
May God bless each and every one as you read this obituary and may you be encouraged to open your heart to the God of the Bible. He will never disappoint you and will be faithful to the end.
