John Russell Holt

John Russell Holt, 79, of Claude, TX passed away June 24, 2025.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 27, 2025 at First Family Church with Kevin Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors by Volleys for Veterans. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

John was born December 2, 1945 in Dumas, TX to William and Alberta Holt. He proudly served in the United States Navy during Vietnam from 1966-1969. John grew up in Dumas and owned/operated Holt Paint and Construction. He retired from Chase Bank as the maintenance supervisor. John loved gardening, canning, and clogging. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh!

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Alberta Holt; first wife, Linda Sue Holt; brothers, Sid Holt and Bill Holt; sister, Sue Stevens; and grandson, Josiah Watson.

John is survived by his wife, Brenda Holt of Claude, TX; daughters, Tracy Watson and husband Jon of Amarillo, TX, Terri Cosper and husband Israel of Fritch, TX, and Sherri Goin and husband Daryl of Fritch, TX; stepchildren, Charles Neely and wife Renee of Oklahoma City, OK, Ray Neely and wife Amanda of Yukon, OK, and Heather Fails and husband Marcus of Moore, OK; siblings, Gary Holt and wife Vickie of Dumas, TX, Clark Holt and wife Linzi of Dumas, TX, Ruth Russell and husband Dwight of Amarillo, TX; and Dee Ward and husband Dewayne of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Justin and Tiffany Watson, Kalie and Aaron Sweitz, Jon Morgan and Ashley Watson, Kendall LeBlanc, Mackenzie Moore, Shelbi Moore, Jayden Snider, Tyler and Jenny Brown, Kirstein Jones, Ashton and Kelton Greene, Garrett Neely, Madison Neely, Misti Smith, Makayla Fails, and Mariah and Jacob Gentry; and 27 great-grandchildren.
