John Richard Keeler, 72, of Webster, Texas, passed away on December 4, 2025.
Private graveside services will be held at Llano Cemetery with Greg Corona officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, Texas.
John was born November 29, 1953 in Manhattan, Kansas, to Marie Bell and Lewis Keeler. He graduated from Amarillo High School and attended Amarillo College and West Texas State University.
Following a successful career selling telephone directory ads, John started buying and selling goods from garage sales as well as businesses that were liquidating. He started attending Grace Church in Houston and became an active member of a Bible study group who ministered to those in nursing homes. In April, 2019, John suffered a massive heart attack and spent three weeks at UTMB in Galveston in a coma. When he woke up, he was blind. Although being blind was a definite challenge, he was able to live alone until a month before his death because of the help from the friends he made in his Bible study.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Hedger. He is survived by his sister Trish Bailey and husband Gerald of Amarillo; nieces, Liz Phillips and Robyn (Todd) Arnhold of Amarillo, and nephews, Rick Hedger and Todd (Jeaneen) Phillips of Canyon Lake.
