John “Johnny” Quintana, 69 of Amarillo, TX, passed away on October 17, 2025.
Services will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 21, 2025 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd in Amarillo, TX, with Marc Ferrell officiating.
Johnny was born in Tucumcari, NM, on February 8, 1956, and moved to Amarillo, TX, shortly after high school to raise his family with his wife of 50+ years, Juanita Arguello Quintana.
Johnny was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, boxing fan, history buff, amateur pool shark, and faithful Tucumcari Rattler. Johnny enjoyed spending time with his friends and family at several of Amarillo’s local watering holes, working on the family cars, and mowing his dirt (much to the chagrin of the Amarillo Fire Department). A lifelong machine operator, John was an extraordinarily skilled and sought-after laborer with multiple companies in Amarillo. Johnny proudly served in the United States National Guard for 5 years.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Maria “Mary” Quintana, several brothers and sisters, including brother Angel “Uncle Ted” Quintana, brother Antonio “Tony” Quintana, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Johnny is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, Juanita Quintana of Amarillo. Daughter Anita Pesqueda and husband Sam and their five children of Amarillo. Daughter Lori Ferrell and husband Marc with their two children in Amarillo. Daughter Victoria Ortiz and husband Anthony, along with their four children, all of Amarillo. Grandson John A. Quintana, wife Rebbeca, and their four children of Amarillo. Granddaughter Laurena Hernandez and husband Genaro with their four children. Along with multiple brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews throughout the United States.
