La misa funeral se celebrará a las 10:00 de la mañana del viernes 14 de agosto de 2026 en la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, 1210 SE 11th Ave. El entierro tendrá lugar a continuación en el cementerio Llano. Los arreglos están a cargo de Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

José nació el 21 de octubre de 1953 en México, hijo de Juan Cruz y Elisa Viezcas. Se mudó a Amarillo, Texas, en 1986. A José le encantaba pescar, montar a caballo y era un trabajador muy duro y un gran amigo.

Se casó con Martha Guerra el 16 de julio de 2021.

Jose deja en vida a su esposa, Martha; sus hijos, Gabriel Rubio y su esposa Felicia de Ft. Worth, TX; Víctor García de Amarillo, TX; José A. Cruz y su esposa Stephanie de Amarillo, TX; y Angel Cruz de Amarillo, TX; hermanos, Juan Cruz, Martin Cruz, Christina Cruz y Eva Cruz; 11 nietos; y 6 bisnietos.

Jose Lourdes Cruz, 72, of Amarillo, TX passed away August 9, 2026.

Rosary will be said at 6:00 PM, Thursday, August 13, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 14, 2026 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1210 SE 11th Ave. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Jose was born October 21, 1953 in Mexico to Juan Cruz and Elisa Viezcas. He moved to Amarillo, TX in 1986. Jose loved to fish, ride horses, and was a very hard worker and great friend.

He married Martha Guerra on July 16, 2021.

Jose is survived by wife, Martha; sons, Gabriel Rubio and wife Felicia of Ft. Worth, TX, Victor Garcia of Amarillo, TX, Jose A. Cruz and wife Stephanie of Amarillo, TX, and Angel Cruz of Amarillo, TX; siblings, Juan Cruz, Martin Cruz, Christina Cruz, and Eva Cruz; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
