Joseph Richard Potter, 60, of Tulia, TX passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025.
Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo. Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church in Silverton, TX. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m., at Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Joe was born September 14, 1964, in Littlefield, TX to Wayne and Teresa Potter. He graduated from Vega High School in 1983 where he participated in sports, band, academics, and theatre. He went to Texas Tech University and graduated with a degree in finance from West Texas State University in 1987.
Joe worked for the Farm Service Agency, formerly known as ASCS, in Oldham County, Cottle County, and then spent 25 years in Briscoe County at Silverton as the County Executive Director. He worked with FSA from 1988 until he retired in 2021. Joe was also engaged in farming with Joe Potter Farms.
He was an active member of Our Lady of Loreto in Silverton and was so proud to be part of the building committee to get a new church built.
He is preceded in death by his father, Wayne Potter.
Survivors include his mother, Teresa Potter, of Amarillo, TX; sister, Joan Brunet and husband Carrol, of Bushland, TX; brother, Mike Potter and wife Jan, of Amarillo, TX; nieces, Morgan Hooker and Meg Potter, both of Amarillo, TX, and Courtney Hartley and husband Seth, of Littlefield, TX.
In lieu of flowers, send donations to the building fund of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, 107 Main St, Silverton, TX 79257-2555.
