Josephine Mary Barrera, 78, of Amarillo, TX passed away August 21, 2026.

Rosary will be said at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1210 SE 11th. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Josephine was born June 11, 1948 in Amarillo, TX to Joseph and Aurora Flores. She married Antonio Barrera on July 30, 1982. Josephine worked for 28 years at Northwest as a central supply technician and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Kay Romero; brothers and sister, Alice, Joe, and Roy.

Josephine is survived by husband, Antonio Barrera of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Mary Romero and partner Jesus Aguirre of Amarillo, TX; son, Jimmy Romero of Hot Springs, AR; daughter, Tina Romero of Amarillo, TX; son, David Romero of Amarillo, TX; son, Javier Barrera and wife Jennifer of Carrolton, TX; siblings, Gilbert Gutierrez of Abilene, TX, Louie Herrera of Amarillo, TX, and Christina Velasco and husband Abel of Amarillo, TX; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
