Juan Lira Ramos

Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.

He was welcomed home to be with the Lord May 8th, 2026.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday May 12th at Boxwell Brothers funeral home chapel with Pastor Ricky Pfeil officiating. Arrangements are made by Boxwell Brothers.

Juan was born May 23, 1940 to Alejos Ramos Jr and Nieves Lira Ramos in Yorktown, Texas. At a young age his family traveled working on various farming fields that started in Friona to Bushland, Vega, and finally settled with his family in Amarillo, Texas. They worked long hours starting from sun up to sun down every single day of the week. Before retiring he worked at Baird’s bread factory, Miller's radiator, and in building maintenance. He continued to maintain that hard work ethic throughout his life.

Juan was a great man. He exceeded the standards of a typical father, uncle, and grandfather. He was not only very special to his family, but to many others. He always had a smile on his face and his laugh was contagious. He had such a loving and caring heart that he willingly poured out to anyone and everyone. His love never went unnoticed and even if he wasn’t there, his presence was always felt. He was a stranger to no one, and a friend to everyone. Juan couldn't go anywhere without being recognized. People naturally gravitated towards him. He enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, at the softball fields, and fishing with his sons. He would never pass up a Coke, honey bun, or donut. After needing to upgrade from a landline it became an ongoing adventure of Juan having to play hide and seek with his own cellphone, butt dials, or hoping he happened to catch your call because he probably couldn’t hear it. His creative soul was noticed in how he enjoyed every bit of God’s creation no matter how small. From anything to gathering dandelions or rocks, he genuinely knew how to view the world in such a pure light. The impact he made is indescribable and his legacy will always live on. The world will never be the same without him. He will forever be missed.

Preceded in death by 3 brothers Ernesto Ramos, Natividad Ramos, Alejos Ramos; and 2 sisters Blaza Gonzales and Maria Vega.
