Justin Shane Love Smith was born on November 15, 1997 in Wichita Falls, TX. The date of his arrival was especially significant to the family because it was also the 68th birthday of his maternal grandfather, Jimmy Love. Justin passed away unexpectedly on October 9, 2025, less than 2 months before his 28th birthday.
A celebration of life is pending and will be announced when those plans are finalized. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
In 2001, Justin first moved to Mobeetie, TX with family. Although he has lived in other places, he grew up in Mobeetie and considered Wheeler County his home. Justin would often recall good times and lasting friendships he made while attending elementary school at Mobeetie and high school at Fort Elliott School in Briscoe, TX. He always enjoyed sports in school, especially basketball. Those who knew him well remember how tenderhearted he was towards people and animals. He was always a “mama’s boy.”
Justin is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jimmy Covington of Nocona, TX; and his maternal grandfather, Jimmy Love of Mobeetie, TX.
He is survived by his parents, Barbara (Love) and Bryan Foos of Mobeetie, TX and Chad and Alice Covington of Terral, OK; brother and sister-in-law, J.T. and Andrea Smith and their son Logan of Middle Town, RI; brothers, Matthew Wilbanks of Oklahoma City, OK, Tyriq Sellers and Chad Covington II of Terral, OK; sister, Elva Sophia Covington of Terral, OK; paternal grandmother, Floye Allen; maternal grandmother, Joe Ann Love of Mobeetie, TX; aunts and uncles, Sheryl and Alan Lane of Allison, TX, Diane and Rick Partlow of Mobeetie, TX, Wanda Love and Jack Brooks of Nocona Hills, TX, Wayne and Barbara Marie Love of Windthorst, TX, and Ricky and Paige Ward of Bowie, TX; and a host of cousins and other relatives that Justin loved very much.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Cornerstone Recovery, PO Box 523, Wheeler, TX 79096 or the Substance Rehab Organization of your choice.
We also wish to thank all of those who have reached out in care and concern for us and for Justin. Your thoughts and prayers are very much needed and appreciated.
