Karl Bill Kenner, 73, of Amarillo, TX, entered into the presence of the Lord on November 5, 2026.
Karl was born February 18, 1953, in Pampa, TX, to Bill and Evelyn Kenner of Pampa, TX. He walked with new life after being saved on March 17, 1985, at a Jay Strack Revival at First Baptist Church in Pampa.
Visitation will be from 6-7 PM, Monday, November 9, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount in Amarillo. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel at the same address, with longtime friend Pastor Mike Stevens officiating. The interment will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Gloden Kenner; his father, Bill Kenner; and his brother and best friend, John Kenner.
Karl leaves behind his treasured wife, one month shy of their 50th anniversary, Catherine (Cathy), and two adoring daughters, Colby Leigh Malouf and husband, Micah, and Karli Coto and husband, Jorge. He was a proud Poppy to his four grandchildren, Reece Bass, Reagan Motley, Caroline Malouf, and Major Malouf. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Sandra Mathis.
Karl graduated from Pampa High School in 1971, winning the rodeo title of Tri-State All-Around Champion. He earned a rodeo scholarship to Sul Ross State University. He later transferred to Texas State Technical Institute, where he was on the rodeo team, earning an associate’s degree in printing. He turned pro as a bareback rider, touring all over the United States for over a decade. With an otherworldly work ethic and ever the provider, he worked breaking and training horses, in oil fields with his father’s company, BillCo Mud Company, and in ranching and farming alongside his father. He spent many years hauling freight for Central Freight Lines, Conway Freight, and lastly at XPO Logistics.
Karl was wholly dedicated to two things, in all that he did - his Savior and his family. With a commercial driving license and a heart for children, he drove the First Baptist Church of Pampa bus picking up and transporting children all over town. He also faithfully served in prison ministry each week. Countless collect calls from the county jail were made to our home as he mentored many to Christ. A profound moment for him was counseling men incarcerated in Walls Unit in Huntsville, TX. Men gripped by the burden of their sin came to know Jesus before they met their Maker through Karl’s ministry.
He loved his family and his family loved him deeply. Before the sun came up each day, he made his cup of coffee, spending time in the Word and praying for his family. Each day he dropped off his girls at school he personalized this benediction from Numbers: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace." He led countless family members to the Lord and baptized them into new life. The proudest Poppy, he rooted on his grandchildren in any given activity and loved joking around to make them laugh. Recently, they were so proud when he dipped his toe into the digital age, texting, and Facetiming. An avid sports fan, he wholeheartedly cheered for the Texas Rangers and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
Well done, good and faithful servant. Well done.
