Kenneth Milton Bearden

Ken was born December 13, 1928, to Alma Sitton Bearden and Willie Lawrence Bearden in Pyote, TX.
After graduating with a degree in geology from Texas Western University, Ken was called to serve his country in the United States Air Force earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the Air Force and stationed in England, Ken met Lilian “Dill” Pettit and they were married on August 14, 1954.
Ken secured a position as a field geologist with Diamond Shamrock after his honorable discharge from the Armed Services. He retired after 35 years.
He is survived by his two children: James (Melissa) Bearden of Amarillo and Sandra (Randy) Brockwell of Oakland, Tennessee; seven grandchildren: Lee Bearden (Manda) of Round Rock, TX, Chelsea Cole (Taylor) of Canyon, TX, Elizabeth Varner (Charlie) of Burleson, TX, Kyle Jefferson (Kelly) of Killeen, TX, William Brockwell of Oakland, TN, Jake Brockwell (Ashton) of League City, TX, and Ally Zimmerman (Parker) of Lakeland, TN; 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Raymond Pettit of Amarillo; brother Billy Wayne Bearden of Houston, TX and his sister Jo Ann Minnix of Midland, TX.
Ken was preceded in death by wife of 68 years Dill Bearden, son Robert, daughter Debbie Hoover, his parents, brother Maurice Bearden and sister Mona Ruth Hudson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
