Kenney Bentley, of Amarillo, died on July 10, 2026
Viewing will be available on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 from 10:00am – 8:00pm at Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount. Services will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 10:30am at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Kenney was born on September 16th, 1946, to Jim and Betty Bentley in Berkeley, California. They moved to Amarillo, Texas when Kenney was 2 years old.
Kenney was in the second graduating class at Caprock High School in 1965 where he was an accomplished athlete, excelling in the pole vault and playing wide receiver on the varsity football team. He also attended college and played football at West Texas State University. Many of the friends he made during his early school years have remained lifelong friends.
After his college years Kenney booked a one-way ticket to O’ahu, Hawaii where he lived for three years making many memories and friends. Soon after arriving back in Amarillo, TX, Kenney found the love of his life, Holly Vernon, and they married on October 14, 1980. They were quite adventurous in their early years of marriage, traveling all over the country in their Volkswagen Beetle and also taking a journey to Australia. Kenney was a Christian and loved God, cherished his family, had great pride for his country and was a very enthusiastic supporter of the Dallas Cowboys.
Kenney was a talented artist and loved woodworking. He was an entrepreneur starting his own businesses including First Horizon Cabinets, The Hot Tub Store, and Street Boards which he owned and operated for many years in Amarillo. Kenney was a natural salesman and spent the latter half of his career in the billboard business.
Kenney is preceded in death by his parents and his lovely wife, Holly.
He is survived by his daughter Brigitte Artho and husband Brad; his son James Bentley and wife Brittany; his grandchildren Bentley Artho, Barron Artho, Baker Bentley, and Charlotte Bentley; and sister, Lynda Bentley Brown.
