Kenneth Lee Drost, 85, of Amarillo, TX passed away April 19, 2026.
Memorial service will be at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Kenneth was born September 25, 1940, in Terrell, TX to Alfred and Etna Drost. He attended Tyler Junior College where he played football and later transferred to Texas Tech University where he met Sandra Stafford. She and Kenneth were married on August 30, 1962. They welcomed their first-born daughter Debra Guthrie on July 18, 1963.
He was a member of St. Stephen Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling to the mountains, fishing, coaching both of his daughters in sports, metal detector, and arrowhead hunting, bowling and maybe some horseraces and gambling at times. He loved dominoes, card games, and Suko. He loved being outdoors, gardening and planting.
Kenneth loved music especially Elvis and loved to dance. Kenneth fiercely loved Jesus, his wife, family, and friends.
Kenneth worked for the City of Amarillo and then the Randall County Appraisal District as a Tax Assessor/Appraiser until he retired.
Kenneth is survived by daughters, Debra Guthrie and husband Bobby, and Diane Maiwald and husband Mike; sister-in-law, Susanne Montgomery; grandchildren, Braxton Bragg and wife Katie, Jordan Maiwald, Jacob Maiwald, Megan Steinke and husband Leo, and Bobby Guthrie Jr. and wife Nikki; great-grandchildren, Jack Bragg, Crue Bragg, Wilder Bragg, Kennedy Maiwald, Mason Steinke, Odin Steinke, Alicia Walker, Anthony Michel, Alexis Michel, Aidan Saguay, and Asher Guthrie; and great great-grandchildren, Alexsander Walker and Avery Walker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Etna Drost; wife, Sandra Stafford Drost; sister, Mildred Drost McDaniel; and brother-in-law, Mike Montgomery.
