Kenneth (Ken) Reese Lorenzen, of Amarillo, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Memorial service will be at 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
He was born on July 13, 1949, to Kenneth and Jo Anne Lorenzen in Omaha, Nebraska. His family later moved to Lubbock, TX where he grew up. After graduating from Coronado High School in 1967, he attended Texas Tech before enlisting in the Navy during the Vietnam War where he served as a Navy Corpsman. After his military service, he attended college in Florida where he earned his Bachelor of Science in biology. While in Florida, Ken worked as a golf pro where he continued to pursue his love of golf. After that, he attended dental school in Guadalajara where he was nicknamed “Don Ken” and met some of his greatest friends in life.
Ken eventually settled in Amarillo where he began his career as a dental lab technician as a partner of Porcelain Arts, Inc. Ken spent over 40 years working as a dental lab technician and most of that time as the president of the West Texas Dental Lab Study Group.
In 1991, Ken married Vicki Ann Reeser, and together they shared 34 cherished years. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Lorenzen, his daughter, Heather Cross and husband, Jon, his son, Forrest, his grandsons, Theo and Levi Cross, and his granddaughter, Anna Marie Cross (due in August 2026), his sister, Sandy Parsons, and his brother, Malcolm Lorenzen and wife Sandi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Jo Anne.
Ken’s life was shaped by the grace of God which led him to live a life of deep faith in Jesus Christ, his Savior.
Memorial donations can be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, an organization for which Ken was a passionate supporter.
