Kimberly "Kim" Thompson, 70, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on April 22, 2026.

Services will be at 2:00P.M., Saturday, May 30, 2026, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Kim was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma on July 7, 1955, to Ella May (Sweger) and Gene Willard Bowers. Kim was raised in Perry, Oklahoma with many immediate and extended family members. Her family moved to Amarillo when she was young and she attended Crockett Junior High, Tascosa High School, Amarillo College, and graduated from University of Texas. She met her soulmate, Trent Thompson, on a ski trip in 1986. They quickly fell in love and were married on February 14, 1987. Kim cherished a lifelong faith in Jesus Christ and loved the Lord with her whole heart. She enjoyed worshipping Him both at church through music and in the great outdoors with friends and family. Kim loved camping, hiking, and riding motorcycles with Trent on long road trips. Her whole life, Kim had a passion for animals both big and small, and she spent many years volunteering at the local animal rescue. In addition to her own fur babies, she fostered many dogs over the years. She loved gardening, canning, cooking, drawing, and always kept busy with her myriads of hobbies and serving others. Kim and Trent treasured each other for almost 40 years of marriage and made many beautiful memories together.

Kim is preceded in death by her father Gene Bowers, her mother Ella May Bowers, her brother Brad Bowers, and her twin brother Jeff Bowers.

She is survived by her beloved husband Trent, her brother Greg Bowers and wife Debbie, her mother-in-law June Wurst and husband Robert, her brother-in-law Brady and wife Laurie, and her sister-in-law Tori. Kim is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kim's memory to Animal Rescue Shelter, Inc.12500 Farm to Market Rd. 1541, Amarillo, Texas 79118.
