Lahroy Alward White Jr., M.D., 84, of Amarillo, TX passed away April 20, 2026.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church, 1100 S. Harrison St. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Dr. White was born December 30, 1941 in Amarillo to Lahroy Alward White Sr. and Martha Dickinson White. He graduated from Amarillo High School and went on to receive his undergraduate degrees from the University of Texas in Austin. He attended the University of Texas School of Law, receiving his juris doctorate and later attended and graduated from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. After completing his internship at Parkland Hospital, he returned home to Amarillo and was the first to complete a family practice residency in Amarillo. Dr. White met Nancy Knorpp, the love of his life, in the summer of 1969. After a brief month of dating, he proposed while they watched the first moon landing. They had two daughters together, to which he was the very definition of a supportive and proud father. Dr. White practiced Family Medicine in Amarillo for over fifty years and he was beloved by peers and patients. In addition to being a lawyer and a medical doctor, Dr. White was a true Renaissance Man. A comprehensive list of his hobbies and interests could fill pages, but some of his favorites were vintage cars, bicycles, photography, and music, particularly, New Orleans Jazz, Spanish guitar and ukulele. He believed that you could learn how to do anything you wanted to, and he did just that.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Martha Dickinson White and his Father, Alward White Senior, and brother Vincent White.

Dr. White is survived by his wife, Nancy, daughter Becca White, son in law, Brian Farabough and granddaughter, Lulu Farabough, daughter Mandy Whaley and son in law, Adam Whaley, grandsons Archie and Clive Whaley, brother in law Raymond Knorpp, niece Amy Knorpp, her wife Adelaid Calbry Muzica, grandniece Heloise Knorpp and grandnephew Hugo Knorpp and many loving friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to WT Opera or Heal the City.
