It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lanny Hargrove, who left this world on November 16, 2024, at the age of 86. He was born in Perryton on July 16, 1938 to Ollie and Herman Hargrove. He was a veteran in the United States Army and lived a life filled with experiences and connections that shaped his journey.
Lanny married his beloved wife, Nina Beth, in November 1967, and together they built a life filled with love and warmth. Shortly after their marriage, he adopted Nina Beth’s daughter, Julie Beth, embracing the joys and challenges of parenthood.
Lanny is survived by his three children, Julie, Sean, Kirk, and their families. He was known as Papaw to his 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was a well-known figure in his community, where he was adored by friends and neighbors alike. His warm smile and quick wit made him a beloved presence, and his stories brought joy to those who gathered around him. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people and will be remembered for the kindness and humor he shared with everyone he met.
Lanny was a devoted caregiver to Nina Beth during her six-year battle with cancer, showcasing his unwavering support and profound love for her throughout this difficult time.
Lanny Hargrove's spirit and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest in peace, Lanny. You will be missed.
Interment will be at 10:30 am, Wednesday, November 20, 2024 in Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton, Texas. Memorial services will be at 4:00 pm, Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Hillside Christian Church Chapel, West Campus, 6100 S. Soncy Rd., Amarillo, Texas, with Johnathan Mast officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 7:30 pm, Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, Texas.
