Larry "Brett" Whitford

Larry “Brett” Whitford, 65, passed away peacefully at home on July 15, 2026, with his longtime companion, Chuck Wallace, and his beloved pup, Zazu, by his side.

Brett was born on January 14, 1961, in Spearman, Texas, to Linda Lee Tucker Whitford and Larry Eugene Whitford.

In August 2015, Brett moved to Panhandle, Texas, to be closer to his children. Nothing meant more to him than his family. He deeply loved his children and grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.

Brett had a passion for cooking and baking and was known for creating wonderful meals and delicious desserts that brought people together. As Parkinson’s disease gradually took those abilities from him, it was especially difficult for those who loved him to witness.

He will be remembered for his love of family, his remarkable cooking, and the quiet kindness he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lee Roy and Nola Gertrude Tucker; his paternal grandparents, William Charles and Lillian Belle Whitford; his parents, Linda Lee Tucker Whitford and Larry Eugene Whitford; his grandson, Mony Ray Jack; and his faithful canine companions, Star and Chloe.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Chuck Wallace of Panhandle, Texas; his daughter, Christen Mariah Jack and her husband, Luke, of Panhandle, Texas; his son, Addam Brett Whitford and his wife, Emily, of Vici, Oklahoma; and his five grandchildren: Dominic Brown, Madilynn Brown, Sonny Pepper Jack, all of Panhandle, Texas, and Christina Whitford and Eleanor Bentley of Vici, Oklahoma.

He is also survived by his stepmother, Jane Whitford of Guymon, Oklahoma; his brothers, Dennis Whitford and his wife, Marq, of Weatherford, Texas, and Billy Whitford and his wife, Barbara, of Duluth, Georgia; his nephews, Ty Whitford of Weatherford, Texas, and Brayden and Bryson Whitford of Georgia; his special aunt, Billie Mae Gordon of Allen, Texas; and several extended family members and dear friends.

In accordance with Brett’s wishes, he was cremated, and no formal services will be held at this time. One of his final wishes was that the ashes of his beloved dogs, Star and Chloe, be combined with his own so they could forever be together, running and playing free from pain.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Parkinson’s disease or cancer research in Brett’s memory.
