June 12, 1957 — July 6, 2024

Larry Ray Wallin, 67, of Logan, New Mexico, passed away on July 6, 2024 surrounded by his beloved family.

Larry was born on June 12, 1957 to Leonard and Evelyn Wallin in Tucumcari, New Mexico. After Larry graduated from San Jon High School in 1975, he continued to farm and ranch in the San Jon, Porter area. He met the love of his life, Shelley Henry Wallin, and moved to Logan, New Mexico in 1983 where he started Ute Lake Construction, a small excavating construction business, as well as established Alamosa Realty where he served as owner, agent, and broker. Larry then was hired as the Logan Village Administrator in 1993 serving for 23 years before retiring in 2016.

Larry’s true passion was hard work and dedication to the task at hand. This led Larry to proudly serve on Logan’s City Council from 1986 to 1993 and the ENMR/Plateau Telecommunications Board of Directors from 1988 where he was currently serving as the board president. Larry’s greatest enjoyments were bringing resources into the community of Logan making sure to meet the needs of the businesses and the residents. He also enjoyed watching the telecommunications field evolve over the years to see the eastern side of the state advance in technology.

Larry and Shelley Henry Wallin were united in marriage on August 9, 1980 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. They were blessed in marriage for almost 44 years and were each other’s constant companions. They proudly welcomed their son Cole Weston Wallin on October 30, 1984. This is one of Larry’s most proud moments, as well as the birth of his beloved grandboys Mason Glen and Jaxton Gene Wallin. Larry lived his best years serving others, maintaining the Wallin family ranch, and his most favorite past time, chasing his grandboys in any and all sporting events, as he rarely missed a single one.

Larry Ray Wallin is survived by his best friend and love of his life, wife, Shelley Henry Wallin, his treasured son, Cole Weston Wallin and wife Raynee Rachor Wallin, and his cherished grandboys Mason Glen and Jaxton Gene Wallin. Also surviving Larry is his precious mother, Evelyn Wallin, his admired advisor, brother Phillip Wallin and his wife Judy Cain Wallin. Other survivors include his mother-in-law Anna Lee Henry, sister-in-law Glena Henry Samora and husband Cecil Samora, two nephews, three nieces, three great nephews, and three great nieces. Larry is proceeded in death by his beloved mentor Leonard Lee Wallin, his adored sister Brenda Wallin Cooper, and his friend and business partner Albert Glen Henry.

Larry Ray Wallin will be honored and celebrated on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 10:00 am, in one of his most favorite places to be, the Logan Longhorn High School Gymnasium. Lunch will follow in the Logan School Cafeteria.

Larry will be dearly missed by his family and friends. And now in true Larry Wallin fashion, he would say, “Y’all get out of here and go do something else!”
