Lena Gamble Higginbotham

Lena Gamble Higginbotham, 84, of Waxahachie, TX passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2025, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Robbie Ashlock of Family Life Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Lena was born on October 13, 1940, to Bill and Lillie (Burleson) Lewis in Beckham County, Oklahoma. She grew up in Roaring Springs, Flomot, and Tulia. In 1984, she moved to Amarillo, and in 2011, she relocated to Waxahachie.

Lena worked at BSA Hospital and later in private practice. In her spare time, she enjoyed square dancing and singing gospel music.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Joe Gamble and Carl Higginbotham; three brothers; five sisters; and her son, Joel Gamble.

Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Dunn and husband Donald, of Waxahachie, TX; a sister, Dorothy Kincaid, of Maypearl, TX; grandchildren, Stephanie Woodward, Matthew Dunn, Alex Gamble, Lillie Gamble, Evan Gamble, and Jenna Betzen; and eight great-grandchildren.
