Leon Tillman, 77, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on August 9, 2025.
Private graveside services were held in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Leon was born on August 26, 1947, in Deer, Arkansas, to E. W. Tillman and Lois Leota Peoples. He was the proud owner of Appliance Service Center of Amarillo, Texas, before selling the business. Later in life, he retired from Plains Transfer and Storage. He always put out food and water for stray animals and there were two stray cats that were wild but, in the winter, he bought cat houses for them and put warming pads in their houses he always wanted to see that helpless animals were taken care of.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Autry and James Luke Autry of Pea Ridge Arkansas, as well as two brothers: Infant Billy Wayne Tillman of Arkansas and Glenn E. Tillman of Barstow, California, and daughter- in- law Jami Tillman of Washburn, TX.
He is survived by his three children: Gary Glenn Tillman of Washburn TX, Deidra Tillman, Derinda True and her husband, Jeremy, of Amarillo, TX. Leon also leaves behind his ex-wife and lifelong best friend, Debby Tillman of Amarillo, TX He is further survived by six grandchildren: Heather Tillman of Walsenburg, CO, Riley Tillman of Eunice, NM, Cheyene Laidlaw and her husband Kyle Laidlaw of New Castle ,CO, Madison Ward ,Triston Medina and Skyler Medina of Amarillo, TX. Leon was also a proud great-grandfather of four: Ryder and Cooper Laidlaw of New Castle, CO, Ella and Tate Medina of Amarillo, TX.
Leon will be remembered for his generous spirit, dedication to his family, and his strong work ethic. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
