Glenda Joy (Lambert) Carper, 85, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 6, 2025, surrounded by her family.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 PM, Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Memorial services will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, July 11, 2025 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Glenda was born on July 21, 1939 in San Angelo, Texas to Lethia and Sam Lambert. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Sterling City High School. Glenda graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree from West Texas State.

She married Donald “Don” Clayton Carper on July 29, 1956, in San Angelo, TX and later they moved their family to Amarillo in June 1967.

She was employed at Bamco from 1967 until 1989 when the company sold. Glenda opened CCI Check Recovery and later sold it. Joining forces with her husband, Don, they owned and operated Doodles Hamburger until their retirement in 2000.

Glenda served her community in various capacities and has been recognized for her service through many organizations. She was Amarillo Credit Women International President 1980-81; Credit Woman of the Year 1984-85; Martha’s Home President 1995; State Credit Woman of the Year; Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow; Chamber Volunteer of the Year 2004-05. She was the first woman from our area to serve as State President of Credit Professionals from 1987-88. She served as a Director with West Amarillo Rotary along with various boards including Home Economics Coop Education program at AISD, Credit Professionals International, Panhandle Restaurant Association, Round-Up Committee and Amarillo Women’s Council of the Chamber of Commerce. Glenda also drove for Meals on Wheels.

Glenda was a member of Westminster Church since 1967, where she served as a Deacon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Harlan Lambert.

Survivors include husband, Don Carper; daughters, LaDon Paige and husband Steve Birkhead, and Kelli Crites; grandchildren, Clay Paige and wife Taylor, Samantha Crites-Fogle and husband Brody Fogle, Clarke Paige and wife Megan, Carson Crites and fiancée Madeline Murphy; great-grandchildren, Kyler, YC, Reeves, Quincy, Lane, and Madi; sister-in-law, Joyce Lambert; nieces, Holly Waldrip, Tracy Horak; cousins, Sheryl and Clay Cox; and many longtime friends and treasured family members.

The family wishes to thank BSA Hospice Care of the Southwest. Her family also wishes to thank her in-home nurses, Paula Zapata and Alice Gomez for their attentive and loving care.
