Loueta Avey-Morgan, 89, of Amarillo, TX passed away on March 18 2026.
She was born on Sept 17" 1936 in Oklahoma City, OK to Carl and Lillie Goodin. She grew up in Anthony, NM where she met and married Ronald Avey in 1954 and moved to El Paso, TX. The family moved to Amarillo in 1969. She loved quilting, scrapbooking, and going on cruises. She was deeply involved with her church and loved her church family. She and Ron had a long and loving marriage until he passed away in 1998. In her later years, she was fortunate to marry Bill Morgan in 2023 to spend her last years together in a loving marriage. "LuLu" as she was affectionately called, deeply impacted her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She'll be remembered for her love, kindness, generous spirit and her quick wit.
Loueta is survived by husband Bill Morgan, children Karen Avey Howard (Dennis), Terry Avey (Pamela), and Linda Karr (Jeff). Her 7 grandchildren, Dennison, Danny, Maggie, Joey, Abby, Ronnie and Hannah, great-grandchildren Kyler, Hunter, Addison, Lilly, JB, Oliver and Rowan, her sister Bobbie Watlington and brother Curtis Riley. She was preceded in death by Ronald Avey.
Loueta will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Service will be Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Comanche Trail Church of Christ, 2700 E. 34th, Amarillo, TX 79103. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM. Private interment will be at a later date.
