Maria Edwina Garcia, 93, of Dumas, died on April 14, 2024.  

Viewing and visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 500 N. Maddox and from 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M. (MDT) on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Dunn Funeral Home, 115 S. 3rd St in Tucumcari, NM,.  Rosary will be held at 10:30 A.M. (MDT) on Friday, April 19, 2024 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tucumcari, N.M.  Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 A.M. (MDT) with Father Moses officiating.  Burial will follow at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.

Maria Edwina was born on May 7, 1930, in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Manuel Aragon and Rosa Garcia Aragon.  She grew up in Tucumcari and graduated from Tucumcari High School.  She loved to cook and take care of her family.  She was a catholic and involved in the church.  She was a Christian mother and loved to play bingo, go to casinos, and play 5000 rummy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicasio Garcia; two daughters, Norma Richard and Sabrina Montiel; and six sons, Cruz Garcia, Julian Garcia, Michael Garcia, Alex Garcia, Armando Garcia, and Dominic Garcia; and grandson, Joseph Garcia

She is survived by six daughters, Gloria Velasco of Farmington, NM., Carmen Padilla and husband Joe of Albuquerque, NM., Patricia Garcia of Tulsa, OK., Jane Tafoya and husband David of Farmington, NM., Rose Speer and husband Darrell of Greely, CO., Rachel Scott and husband Mark of Okmulgee, OK.; one son, Ralph Aragon and wife Pat of Dumas; and a brother, Wilfred Aragon of Albuquerque, NM.; 28 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
