Maria Estela DeSantiago Rodriguez, 72 of Cactus, Texas, passed away on January 30, 2025.
Viewing will be available from 10:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M., Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. The Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Amarillo, TX. Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at St. Laurence Catholic Church. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Blvd.
Maria was born in Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico, on August 26, 1953, being the youngest of 7 children to Antonia Gonzalez DeSantiago and Guadalupe DeSantiago. She met, fell in love, and married Jose Rodriguez in El Porvenir, D.B., Chihuahua, Mexico, on April 28, 1974. Soon after, they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they settled down and started their family, later moving to Cactus, Texas.
Maria enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, sharing stories from her life, and building puzzles with her grandkids. She also enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, visiting the casino, and playing bingo. Above all, she was known for sharing her beautiful singing voice with her family.
Maria will be remembered for her kind-hearted soul, never-ending love, and the warmth and joy she brought to everyone around her. She leaves behind countless cherished memories and will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her father Guadalupe DeSantiago, her mother Antonia DeSantiago, and her twin brothers Manuel and Jose DeSantiago.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jose Rodriguez, and their 3 children, eldest son, Edgar Rodriguez and wife Matty Rodriguez of Johnson, Kansas; daughter, Nina Herrera and husband Javier Herrera of Dumas, Texas, and youngest son, Jose Rodriguez and wife Elizabeth Vasquez of Amarillo, Texas; loved as a son, Francisco “Paco” Rodriguez; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and her 3 sisters: Estefana, Juana, Maria Del Refugio “Cuca”, and brother, Ruben.
