Marvin "Fred" Carter

Marvin “Fred” Carter, age 95, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2026 peacefully, leaving a legacy of love, family, faith, and hard work.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 3, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Greg Corona officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Fred was born November 2, 1930, in Plains, Texas, to Glen and Esse Mae Carter. Fred graduated from Happy High School and built a life centered on family, community, and work.

On July 25, 1950, Fred married the love of his life, Lounette Stubblefield, and they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Affectionately known as “Grumps” to his grandchildren, Fred always put family and friends first. He was a constant presence at ball games, graduations, and holidays, cheering on his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A longtime businessman and entrepreneur, Fred purchased Western Fence Co. in 1969 and founded Tex-Mex Fence Supply in 1981, demonstrating the dedication, determination, and strong work ethic that defined him.

Outside of work, Fred enjoyed playing golf, traveling with friends and family, and was an active member of both the Kiwanis Club and Rotary Club.

Fred will be remembered for his devotion to family, his generous yet ornery spirit, and the many lives he touched throughout his 95 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Esse Mae Carter; his beloved wife, Lounette Carter; his sister, Mary Beth Stubblefield; and his brother, Kim Carter.

Fred is survived by his children, Deanna Sanford (Chris) and Rick Carter (Mary); grandchildren, Casey Coin (Nathan), Jill Lacey (Justin), Monica Weatherly (Wes), and Derrick Carter (Meg); brother, Bobby Ed Carter (Patsy); nine great-grandchildren, who brought him much joy; and longtime good friends, Richard Gower and Robert Mendoza, whose friendship and companionship meant so much to him.

The family suggest memorials be to a favorite charity.

Fred will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
