Mary Faith Brown, 92, of Amarillo, TX passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026.
Mary Faith was born June 16, 1934, in Spearman, TX to George and Rena Oakes. She spent the first half of her life in Spearman, Texas where Mary Faith and Sonny Nollner had two daughters, Frances and Lezlie.
In 1966 Mary Faith moved to Borger Texas where she met Frank Brown. Mary Faith and Frank got married on February 3rd, 1967, and shared a wonderful 45 years together. The two shared a love for traveling, bowling, and golfing. If she wasn’t doing one of the sporting actives you could find her baking or crocheting. Mary Faith loved gifting her crocheted white popcorn blankets to all her friends and family members on big life accomplishments. She loved playing board games, card games, and hosting get togethers. During this time Mary Faiths cooking would really shine. She was well known for making some of the best cinnamon rolls, cheese rolls and Harvey Wallbanger cakes you could find. Mary Faith found joy in some of the simplest things. Cats, trinket owls and Coca Cola. Some of her best afternoons spent would be watching golf with a cat in her lap. Mary Faith was a giver, she enjoyed putting other people first and loved seeing them smile. The only thing she would ask for in return is your company and a good old fashioned fountain Coke.
Mary Faith was a devoted Christian. During her time in Borger, she was very active in the First Baptist Church. Once she moved to Amarillo in 2012, she found her new church home at Crossroads Country Church. As time went on and Mary Faith moved into Five Points Nursing and Rehabilitation, she was still seen every Sunday going to church and partaking in bible study. Mary Faith’s faith carried her through life. As we learn to navigate this world without her, let us find peace in knowing that she is rejoicing in the presence of our Lord and Savior and surrounded by all her loved ones that passed before her.
Mary Faith is preceded in death by her parents George and Rena Oakes, husband Frank Brown; brothers, Warren Oakes, George Oakes, and Jack Oakes; and daughter, Lezlie Visoski.
Mary Faith is survived by daughter, Frances Jackson and husband Jim Jackson; grandchildren, Sunny Philley and husband Seth Philley, Brady Jackson, and Ginger Oviatt; great-grandchildren, Andrea Essex and Amy Wirthlin, multiple great-great grandchildren and Debbie and Mickey Blackmon, their two children Brandi and Brett Blackmon, friends who turned into family many years ago.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are made by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BSA Hospice of the Southwest or Baptist Community Services.
